UC Davis Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) offers mental health Crisis Consultation Services during business hours by calling 530-752-0871 or coming into the Acute Care Clinic at the Student Health and Wellness Center. The receptionist will ask you the reason for calling and ultimately connect you with someone that can talk to you about your mental health. When SHCS is closed, Crisis Consultation Services can be accessed by calling the same number and following the after hours prompts to be connected to a trained counselor for support.
Same-Day Crisis Appointments
You can request a crisis appointment by calling Counseling Services at 530-752-0871 and asking for a crisis appointment or, if you prefer, you can walk in to the Acute Care Clinic at the Student Health and Wellness Center and ask for a crisis appointment. These appointments are typically same-day appointments that can be in person or virtual (Zoom). Remember, when talking in terms of crisis appointments at Counseling Services, the term “crisis” is self-defined. Counseling appointments are no cost, which includes same-day crisis appointments.

The receptionist will ask you the reason for calling and ultimately connect you with someone that can talk to you about how we can best support the student you are concerned about.

Crisis Text Line is a free, immediate texting service for UC Davis students in crisis, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Text RELATE to 741741 from anywhere in the U.S. to text with a trained volunteer crisis counselor. This service is also available in Spanish. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
